A third positive COVID-19 test for an Avalanche player -- now revealed to be Joonas Donskoi -- has prompted the NHL to postpone the team's next three games on the advice of medical experts.

That includes Friday and Sunday against the Los Angeles Kings, and Tuesday against the Blues in St. Louis.

More testing will determine if the Avalanche can practice Wednesday and play Thursday in St. Louis.

The Avalanche and Kings had cancelled their morning skates.

Goalie Philipp Grubauer and defenseman Bowen Byram were already on the COVID list and unable to travel, practice or play.

Donskoi was scratched from Wednesday's game because he wasn't feeling well. He will have to quarantine for 14 days.

The Avalanche, on a 17-1-2 roll, previously had five games postponed because of COVID protocols: one against the Minnesota Wild, two against the Blues, and two against the Arizona Coyotes.

They’ve since played the makeup games against the Wild and Coyotes.
