The Avalanche completed a busy trade deadline weekend Monday by acquiring center Carl Soderberg from the Chicago Blackhawks for forwards Ryder Rolston and Josh Dickinson.

Soderberg, 35, has 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 34 games and is an excellent defensive forward and penalty killer.

General manager Joe Sakic will be on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. MT, 30 minutes before the Avalanche play the Arizona Coyotes at Ball Arena.

Here are the GAME NOTES for Monday’s game.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Soderberg spent four seasons with the Avalanche (2015-19) and had 151 points (57 goals, 94 assists).

Soderberg has 295 points (110 goals, 185 assists) in 586 NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Avalanche, Arizona Coyotes and Blackhawks. He has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 41 Stanley Cup playoff games.

Soderberg, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, had career highs for goals (23) and points (49) for the Avalanche in 82 games in 2018-19.

Rolston, 19, is the son of former NHL forward Brian Rolston. He was the Avalanche’s fifth-round pick (No. 139) in the 2020 NHL draft. He had six points (one goal, five assists) in 28 games this year as a freshman at Notre Dame.

Dickinson, 23, has a combined five points (one goal, four assists) in 18 games with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League and Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

The Avalanche acquired defenseman Patrik Nemeth, who has an upper-body injury, on Friday from the Detroit Red Wings and goalie Devan Dubnyk from the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Philipp Grubauer will start against the Coyotes.
