Philipp Grubauer will start in goal Saturday when the Avalanche complete their back-to-back set with the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena.
But Cale Makar has an upper-body injury and won't play.
Here are the
GAME NOTES.
Hunter Miska had 16 saves Friday for his first NHL win, a 3-2 decision. He lost his shutout with 1:36 remaining, and the Avalanche hung on to end a two-game losing streak.
Here’s the
NHL.com GAME RECAP.
Matt Calvert, who has a history of concussion issues, was a late scratch after taking part in the pregame warmup. He's listed as having an upper-body injury, but coach
Jared Bednar said a little while ago that it isn't concussion related.
The Avalanche didn’t have a morning skate. They’ll be off on Sunday, play Monday and Wednesday in San Jose, then return to Denver for a nine-game homestand that starts with back-to-back games against Anaheim next weekend.
An already tight 56-game schedule became more condensed when five games had to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 protocols, so they won’t have more than one day between games for the rest of the season. Practices will be limited if not eliminated.
