Update: With their 5th, 134th overall, pick acquired for Kevin Hayes' rights the Jets select Harrison Blaisdell from the BCJHL Chilliwack Chiefs.

When asked about his style of game and who he tries to emulate Harrison had a smile on his face with this answer, "I try to play an almost Brad Marchand style, obviously some of the stuff he does I don't necessarily agree with but I respect him as a player, he's an unbelievable player on and off the ice".

It was was pretty clear that Harrison was a thoughtful young man and very well spoken. He had a quiet confidence and was very forthcoming with answers. He mentioned that he had met with Jets scouts in the past and at the combine. He followed up his appreciation for Marchand by talking about his game saying "it was something earlier in my life I didn't know how to control, I was kinda over the edge with it but I've gotten better at it as the years have gone on," with a big smile.

He was allowed to speak for a bit and his personality came out and he seemed very intuitive and obviously articulate. I asked him about what he had learned from his journey to this point in hockey. His answer was a bit surprising and showed some maturity.

"The way of being prepared, just going forward it's a job. Obviously you are the happiest man alive if you can play hockey for your living. I kind of see it that way going forward, you have to be consistent and you have to bring it every night as it's a job now. If you want to play for the Jets one day you have to bring that consistency."

With their second round pick, #51 overall, the Winnipeg Jets chose Simon Lundmark from Linkoping HC of the SHL. Lundmark is a late 2000 born right handed defenseman who is known for steady play and consistent puck moving skills. He’s not seen as anyone with glaring flaws but also not known for having some unique or outstanding skill.

Lundmark was ranked #61 by Bob MaKenzie but he had mixed rankings from other scouting services. #106 by Hockey Prospect, #153 by Future Considerations #87 by McKeen’s #21 Central Scouting for EU skaters.

Lundmark spoke to Winnipeg media after his rounds with the team. He was asked what type of player he is and replied, “Two-way defenseman, big size, good mobility also very good hockey sense and good passing game,” as he described himself. Who wouldn’t want that kind of skill but will it translate over to the NHL level?

Lundmark currently has a 2-year deal with his club in Sweden so again he projects out to be some one to come into the team in the future and not anytime soon. That’s likely okay as the Jets have to figure out where their prospects lie now of the ones they currently have.

When asked about what he knew about Winnipeg Lundmark gave a fairly standard answer, “It’s a great city, they have some great fans and they’ve got some great players as well”. Lundmark did not mention a favourite player when asked and said “I like to watch the best players and learn from them,” as he considered the answer.

Learning will be key as he will have to understand the NHL game and find ways to push his skill set and abilities to be an NHL players. Is Lundmark a project? Not in the traditional sense that he might need fixing in any particular area rather he has to keep taking steps to progress his total game to match the level and requirements of professional hockey.
