Leafs GM Kyle Dubas continued his task of finding homes for some prospects with European clubs with the start date of the 2020-21 NHL season up in the air. Earlier this week, Toronto loaned center prospect Semyon Der-Argushintsev to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL and on Wednesday the club loaned defenseman Mac Hollowell to TUTO in the Finnish Mestis (second division) league.
Hollowell, 22, split time between the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers and Toronto Marlies last season, scoring 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists) in 34 AHL games last season after playing nine games in the Calder Cup Playoffs in 2019. The 2018 draft pick appeared to be slotted for full time duty with the Marlies with the departure of Jesper Lindgren, Kevin Gravel, Ben Harpur (traded) and Jordan Schmaltz (traded), but that is uncertain with the start of the AHL season in question.
Forwards Egor Korshkov, Denis Malgin, Filip Hallander, defensemen Mikko Lehtonen, Kristians Rubins, and Filip Kral have also been loaned to clubs in the KHL, SHL, and leagues in Switzerland, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.
Korshkov currently leads Yaroslavl Lokomotiv(KHL) with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) in 17 games, Malgin has four goals in six games for Lausanne HC (Switzerland), Hallander remained with Lulea (SHL) after being acquired in the trade from Pittsburgh in August and has four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in nine games.
Lehtonen with Jokerit leads all KHL defensemen with 16 points (8 goals, 8 assists), Rubins was loaned to Frederikshavn in Denmark earlier this month, while Kral has 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in seven games playing for the second division HC Prerov in the Czech League.
