Clash of the Cats and Lightning

The first part of this week’s two-part “big dance” kicks off tonight when the Panthers take on the Lightning for Florida supremacy - but also for first place in the Central Division (the more important of the two).

The Cats, Canes and Lightning are in a three-way tie for first place in the division. These three teams have been consistently bouncing back-and-forth across the first, second, third and fourth spots all season.

The Panthers came close to losing a fourth game in a row on Tuesday to the Dallas Stars if it wasn’t for Driedger saving their bacon and then Frank ‘Mr. Clutch’ Vatrano remaining deadly in key third period/OT situations.

With their new additions, and a tough foe on the calendar the next two nights, the Cats should be looking to make a statement - especially since they are struggling offensively.

Outside of Barky, the scoring is cold. The Panthers’ latest three-game losing streak saw them score only three goals. Yikes. They’re going to need to turn that around quickly if they want to have a chance against the Lightning’s high-powered offense.

At the writing of this it sounds like Stamkos will be out of the lineup this week, so that should help Florida’s cause a bit.

It was also announced that Montour and Juulsen have been added to the active roster. Looking forward to seeing who else of the new crew will be in tonight and Saturday.

Speaking of Montour...check out the latest episode of the Missin’ Curfew Podcast where the fellas had him on and he talks about his time in Buffalo, being traded to the Panthers, Sam Bennett, Hornqvist, and some other Florida tidbits. He comes in around the halfway Mark:
