The Canadiens sent Twitter ablaze this morning by recalling Cole Caufield to the taxi squad. While the organization doesn’t want to rush Caufield, the Covid situation with the Marlies has meant that the Rocket are on an extended break. The team has said that they brought him up to give him an idea of what life in the NHL is like.

Furthermore, because of cap considerations, Caufield cannot be called-up to the team right now. However, should Price be ready to come back tomorrow and Primeau and Ouellet be sent back to Laval, the Canadiens would have the necessary space to insert Caufield in the line-up. I’m not saying that it will happen, but it could.

At practice, he was on a fifth line with Frolik and Jake Evans this morning. Meanwhile, Price practiced with the team and Ducharme confirmed that he wouldn’t be available for tonight’s game, he could be back tomorrow against Ottawa.

Should Price be ready tomorrow and should there be space, if tonight’s effort is against subpar, the temptation will be strong to bring him in... We shall see.
