As we wait for the Erik Karlsson protracted trade negotiations to finally come to an end, one bit of Rangers news crossed the airwaves this morning. Alex Nunn, @aj_ranger, reported that Vitaly Kravtsov signed a one-year deal for 2018/19 KHL season with Traktor and said he is staying in Russia. (Update per Alvis Kalnins: His previous KHL contract ran through 2018/2019 season but was re-worked to give him more money. Still the same term). This but of information came as only a mild surprise, as there was some discussion that Kravtsov might play in the US for Hartford like Filip Chytil last season. But the prevailing thought was that Kravtsov likely would spend the season in Russia. In addition, Nunn added, and thanks for jimbo for posting in the blog, Kravtsov, Shestyorkin, and Rykov are all out of KHL contract after 2018/19 and they play their final regular-season game against each other on February 22. I believe though that after that date is the Gagarin Cup playoffs, which would mean their end date could extend beyond February 22, if Traktor makes the post season. New York should consider bringing the three over, after maybe a week break, for a PTO in the AHL, thereby allowing each to get their feet wet in North America without having to sign a contract.

I saw the below on Twitter yesterday and thought I would bring it to the blog with a twist. The tweet asked you to make one line based on your favorite players. Here are the twists:

First, put together two lines of your favorite players. But one from those players you rooted for as a kid growing up and two from more modern action. You can use a Ranger on these teams but the six should be predominantly made up of non-Rangers or at a minimum, players who spent most of their career elsewhere. Second, the same for the Rangers. However, for the Blueshirts, you cannot use a player that was just a deadline deal acquisition and just finished the season with New York. For examples, Eric Staal is not available to be used but Martin St. Louis, who finished the 2013-14 season and played 2014-15 with the Rangers is eligible.

Here are my two non-Rangers teams :

Bure-Gretzky-Forsberg
Leetch-Chelios
Fuhr

Kariya-Forsberg-Selanne
Lidstrom-Bourque
Hasek

My two Rangers teams are :

Verbeek-Messier-Graves
Leetch-Zubov
Richter

Jagr-Gretzky-Shanahan
Park-Greschner
Lundqvist
