New York returns to action Sunday trying to put the bad taste of blowing a three-goal lead Friday out of their mouths. The Rangers take on the Golden Knights, who have won nine of their last 12 games (9-2-1), but like new York, blew a three goal lead Friday against the Devils, falling 5-4 in overtime. Following today's contest, the Blueshirts face the Ducks at home on Tuesday.

Per Colin Stephenson of Newsday, from coach David Quinn’s pregame: Kevin Hayes, injured with just over three minutes to go in the third period Friday, is a game time decision. Lias Andersson, who sat Friday, is playing. Adam McQuaid, sidelined for 21 games, since leaving the Oct. 25 game in Chicago after the first period with a lower-body injury, will be in the lineup Boo Nieves, called up Saturday due to the uncertainty of Hayes' status, is also active.

Just before game time, the below announcement came out:

Losing Quickie, who is a stalwart on the penalty kill and has shown he can play anywhere from the first to third line, does create a big hole in the Rangers' lineup. Per Larry Brooks, Fast was likely injured in a collision during the first period Friday, but he played through end of game. I expected either Jimmy Vesey or Ryan Strome to move up to the third line or New York could put Lias Andersson there with Nieves as the fourth center. But it looks like Vesey is replacing Fast on the right side on the third line.

Brooks adds that the lineup sheet shows Matt Beleskey and Brendan Smith as healthy scratches with Andersson, McQuaid, Nieves in. Hayes was on the ice during pre-game warmups. With Hayes in the lineup, the combinations are:

Lines:
Chytil-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Kreider-Hayes-Buchnevich
Namestnikov-Howden-Vesey
Andersson-Nieves-Strome

Staal-Pionk
Claesson-McQuaid
Skjei-DeAngelo

For Las Vegas, Max Pacioretty sat out the loss to New Jersey with an undisclosed injury, but the Knights did get back their second center, Paul Stastny, who had missed the previous 30 games since an Oct. 8 hit from Buffalo's Jack Eichel sidelined him with a lower-body injury. With Pacioretty back in, the below is Vegas' lineup with two ex-Rangers in Lindberg and Holden active.

Forwards
Jonathan Marchessault-William Karlsson-Reilly Smith
Max Pacioretty-Paul Stastny-Alex Tuch
Oscar Lindberg-Cody Eakin-Ryan Carpenter
William Carrier-Pierre-Edouard Bellemare-Tomas Nosek

Defensemen
Brayden McNabb-Nate Schmidt
Shea Theodore-Nick Holden
Jon Merrill-Colin Miller

Goaltender
Marc-Andre Fleury
