The Winnipeg Jets have earned their first win this season, beating the Anaheim Ducks 5-1. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Copp both scored their third of the season, Josh Morrissey with his second, and Kyle Connor with his fourth and fifth. An offensive performance this team really needed it, as well as a fantastic performance from Connor Hellebuyck, who has had a some-what shaky start to the season.

While missing two of their top-line players, a lot of players were going to have to step up, and they did.

Pierre-Luc Dubois is showing flashes of being that great power-center this team traded Patrik Laine and Jack Roslavic for. After a great couple games, and putting up a goal and an assist last night, on a line with Evgeny Svechnikov and Kyle Connor, who also had a fantastic game. Scoring his fourth and fifth goal of the season, and leading the team in points with 5G, 7P in 4 games. Nikolaj Ehlers had tied Connor for the team-high in shots with 6, and creating some good offense, but has still yet to register a point. This isn't anything to be too concerned about yet, as the season is still young.

On the back end, Josh Morrissey scored his second goal, and has overall been much better than last season. Nate Schmidt on his side seems to be helping stabalize the pairing. Schmidt hasn't been fantastic, but has made some notable plays in both ends, and for the price of a third round pick, I would say it is paying off for the Jets so far. Brenden Dillon has provided a solid amount of physicality, but isn't quite playing up to his price from this summer's trade. Logan Stanley seems to have taken a step this season, though it is a little tough to gauge with his limited ice time, only logging 15:06 TOI/game so far along side Dylan DeMelo.

Kevin Francis of HockeyBuzz wrote last night that Ottawa Senators have called about Andrew Copp. I doubt Kevin Cheveldayoff is too eager to trade the center, as Head Coach Paul Maurice is clearly a big fan of Copp, and Copp has been playing good hockey so far this season, putting up 3G, 5P in 4GP, and has kind of been all over the lineup. Ottawa does have lots of great depth options up front, as well as rumours surrounding young defenseman Erik Brannstrom. With 10 picks in the 2022 NHL Draft, I am sure that there is potential to be a satisfying offer.

After the first win of the season, the Jets will look to come out of the games strong against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Do you think we see any lineup changes, potentially seeing Perfetti back in with Beaulieu back out? Let me know your thoughts on last night's game, as well as what kind of return you would like to see from Ottawa if Andew Copp is dealt.

Thank you for reading.
