Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor each registered two goals in a 5-2 win against Paul Maurice and the Florida Panthers, while Connor Hellebuyck made 39 saves for the win, giving the Jets the division lead.

With Maurice back in town, the Jets were more than motivated enough to try and get the win against their former head coach. After an emotional video tribute, Maurice was given a standing ovation at the Canada Life Center, which was well deserved.

Mark Scheifele opened the scoring with his first of the night on a powerplay goal. This all starts with Dylan DeMelo doing a great job to draw the penalty, and the Jets took advantage of that. Scheifele would also go on to score his 15th on the year later in the game. I don't think it is talked about enough, what kind of season Scheifele is having. Scheifele has never hit the 40-goal mark in his career, but is currently on pace for 52 goals, as we pass the quarter-way mark of the season. The lack of assists is a bit concerning, but nothing to force change about. He is still getting lots of production.

Kyle Connor is also in that same conversation. With two goals and an assist, Connor moves to 10 goals and 26 points on the year. After a slow start, Connor is certainly catching up to the pace we expected this season.

Josh Morrissey continues his dominant season, earning his 7th point in the last 5 games. Morrissey currently sits 4th in league-wide scoring among defensemen, which is insane, considering less that 6 months ago some of us were thinking about if Morrissey is even a #1 defender. I have been very impressed with how he has been on both sides of the puck. He is such a reliable player to have on the back end.

Hellebuyck has also been one of the NHL's top goalies, as he currently sits 2nd in SV% league-wide. He has given the Jets the opportunity to win in every one of his games this year. With a record of 13-5-1 with 3 shutouts already, he has a serious case for another Vezina this year. Ullmark and Sorokin may make that tough, but as of today, Hellebuyck would have my vote.

The Jets as a whole have been such a dominant team. Outside the 4-1 loss to the Blue Jackets, they haven't looked poor what-so-ever in almost three weeks. Rick Bowness has everybody playing their best hockey, and things are looking good for this group, than many had doubted.

Even the depth has been really strong. Gagner has taken a step back in his play, but Adam Lowry, Morgan Barron, Mason Appleton, Mikey Eyssimont and Saku Maenalanen have all looked good in the bottom-six, with most getting a shot in the top-six in the absence of Nikolaj Ehlers.

There is not much to complain about with this team, I am happy to see them find success, and should they continue this play, they could be a real threat in the playoffs with their top forwards producing, Josh Morrissey on a new level, and world-class goaltending from Hellebuyck.
