Jets vs. Bruins, Ehlers Placed on LTIR, Wheeler Removed

Saturday afternoon, the Winnipeg Jets announced that Blake Wheeler has been removed from LTIR, and in turn, have placed Nikolaj Ehler in the Injury Reserve.

Wheeler returning to the lineup could look a lot of different ways. While Head Coach Dave Lowry hasn't confirmed if the Jets Captain will play, I would anticipate he will be in the lineup. Lowry would like to keep Wheeler off of the ice against other teams top lines, while he gets back up to speed, but also indicated that he will be hoping to keep Scheifele-Wheeler together.

After a unsettling start to the season, Blake Wheeler was making a lot of big steps in the right direction before going down with an injury. Registering 1 goal, and 16 assists in his 22 games thus far, Wheeler could come in and make a big impact in helping the Jets get back on the right track.

Nikolaj Ehlers has been placed on LTIR, after suffering an MCL sprain on a play in which Dmitri Orlov was handed a 2 game suspension for kneeing in the Jets 4-3 OTL on Tuesday. Ehlers is listed as week-to-week, and will be looking to return as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I would expect Saturdays lines to look like:

Copp-Scheifele-Wheeler
Conner-Dubois-Perfetti
Stastny-Lowry-Vesalainen
Harkins-Toninato-Poganski

Morrissey-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Stanley-Schmidt

Brendan Dillon was seen on the ice yesterday, and like Wheeler, it hasn't been confirmed if he will play or not. After having a bit of a battle with COVID, I see Dillon being more liekly to take a few extra practices to get back into the swing of things.

The Boston Bruins are missing superstar forward Brad Marchand, which is great news for the Jets. It is expected that Jake DeBrusk will take the spot on that top line, and with the depth the Bruins have, I would be expecting a tough battle, even with a guy like Marchand not playing.

What are your hopes for tonight? Besides a win, what are some smaller victories that the Jets can have throughout the game? Let me know your thoughts down below!
