Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel once again powered his team's comeback victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs with two goals and an assist.

The evolution of Eichel as an elite NHL scorer is happening before our very eyes. When the Sabres need a goal at a big moment Eichel elevates his game to meet the challenge.

With his 34 points (16G,18A), Eichel is now th in NHL scoring.

Eichel skated 21:36 TOI, was +4 and landed 8 shots on goal on Leafs' goalie Michael Hutchinson.

The Sabres scored four unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 first period deficit.

Jimmy Vesey, Jeff Skinner, Casey Mittelstadt and Victor Olofsson also scored to help Buffalo improve to 12-10-4.

Linus Ullmark made 25 saves.

The win moved the Sabres into eight place in the Eastern Conference standings and into a third place tie with the Leafs for third place in the Atlantic Division.

Eichel scored his team-leading 15th and 16th goals of the season against the Sabres' hated rivals.

Eichel tied the score in the middle of the second period.

With 16 goals in 26 games this season, Eichel is already halfway to his previous best goal total (28), set in the 2018-19 season.

Eichel’s points production 26 games has him on pace to finish the season with 46 goals and 102 points, which would be the highest goal and point totals by a Sabre since Pat LaFontaine (53G,95A) and Alexander Mogilny (76G,51A) in 1992-93.

Mittlestadt gave Buffalo the 3-2 lead with 7:52 left in the second. The goal snapped Mittelstadt's 15 game pointless streak that began on October 22.

Olofsson's even strength goal gave the Sabres a two goal lead at 4-2 late in the second period.

Vesey's goal made the score 5-3.

Live from the Ted Darling Memorial Press Box, it is hockey day in Buffalo.

Black Friday Edition.

It's game one of the home-and-home series which will conclude in Toronto on Hockey Night In Canada.

White sweaters at home today for the Sabres who will be rocking their sexy 50th Anniversary sweaters.

The Buffalo Sabres are hosting their arch rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A win would move Buffalo into a tie for Leaf eighth place in the East (28 points).

The Sabres are looking for the tonic that will cure all that ails their current 3-9-3 record in their last 15 games.

What better slump buster is there than to slap the hated Maple Leafs in front of th ehome fans, who are still buzzing from the Buffalo Bills' pasting of the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving night.

I expect a fast paced, hard hitting Battle Royale today from two division rivals who need both points today. I have a feeling that this game will feature some shinny and pond hockey. The wild horses are going to run today.

Linus Ullmark will get the Buffalo net while Micheal Hutchinson will defend the Leafs' cage.

The Sabres are 19-5-2 in their last 26 home games against the Maple Leafs. Toronto has not won four straight games in Buffalo since the Maple Leafs won each of their first six visits to Buffalo.

Captain Jack Eichel has scored 10G,6A in 13 career games against Toronto, including 5G,3A in six games on home ice.

Eichel's 1.23 points per game against the Maple Leafs rate as his second-best career point production against any Eastern Conference team, trailing only his 1.64 points per game against the Ottawa Senators.

Eichel has scored more goals against the Maple Leafs (10) than against any other NHL opponent.

Samson Reinhart has scored 6G,7A in 13 games against the Maple Leafs dating back to the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

Rasmus Ristolainen has recorded five assists in his last four home games against Toronto.

A few NHL teams have scouts here again today.

The New Jersey Devils will play here on Monday night.

The Taylor Hall trade chatter has not and will not die down until a trade is finally granted to the pending unrestricted free agent.

Also, the LA Kings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks, and Edmonton Oilers.

The Sabres will play the Canucks and Oilers next weekend.

The Kings, Sharks, Canucks and Oilers continue to scour the NHL in search of a top four defenseman. Sabres GM Jason Botterill recently upped the ante on the urgency of his need to acquire a top six scoring forward. Botterill has the defensemen that NHL foes have written atop their holiday wish lists.

For the first time ever, the new Seattle (insert club nickname here) have a scout in the building today.
