One of the benefits of the trade freeze is the many discussions that take place heading into the deadline. I was told this morning by a key source in New York the Rangers contacted the Edmonton Oilers regarding Taylor Hall, and were open to discussing A blockbuster deal that would send two Rangers and a conditional first and second pick to Edmonton. One of the players would be Marc Staal and the conditional picks would be linked to whether or not Edmonton could extend Staal.
I was also told today that the Bruins and Blues came very close to finalizing a deal and worked late into the night last night. It appears as if there's a fit there and I was told the Bruins also had discussions with Edmonton regarding David Perron.
I am also hearing the Flyers were active and will be active after the trade freeze for certain....Kimmo Timonen is expecting to be back at some point, and while I don't anticipate Timonen accepting a trade the Flyers could move another D-man if Kimmo is healthy.
more to come...
