McDonagh returning back to TB (with his $6.75 million salary), does that mean anything regarding the possible future of Steven Stamkos?

**

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be a very different looking team in September with new head coach Craig Berube at the helm, but how different will depend on GM Brad Treliving and some of the core players that he may want to move out.

There has been some speculation that the Leafs might want to see if vets like John Tavares or Morgan Rielly would waive their no-movement clause, but I’ve been told that both want to stay in Toronto.

Mitch Marner seems to be the most likely to move, but with his NMC, he can control his destination and possibly limit what the Leafs can get back for him entering the final year of his deal.

As for free agents, it is likely Max Domi will re-sign with the Leafs, and the chances of Joel Edmundson staying increased with his former head coach coming to Toronto.

Stay tuned
