Joe Pavelski is quickly becoming a hot topic among NHL GMs. As the Stars continue to struggle, Joe Pavelski is an absolute PERFECT rental for a team on the verge of serious Cup Run. Few players can bring what Joe brings to a locker room. I have said for years that if you ask a fan in San Jose which player's leaving was the most difficult it is not Marleau or Thornton, it is Pavelski who hurt the most.

Joe is on an expiring contract and will be a UFA next season, and will be prominent on the Trade Deadline Rumor Chart that launches this week. He is also, by the way, having an amazing season. 13 goals 19 assists for 29 points in 31 games.

Two teams who wouldn't mind some playoff experience and leadership are rumored to already be interested...Toronto and the NY Rangers...

The question will come down to Dallas and what they want to do with Joe. He could be extended, but if he really likes Dallas than they could move him now and sign him back later...

What will is take? At the end of the day I believe it will be a first round pick PLUS...There will be more teams in this sweepstakes...
