Sad News Today. Hockey Legend Bobby Hull has passed away at the age of 84.

Pure and Simple: Bobby Hull = Legend

"The Golden Jet" is known for so many things, and has always been controversial for leaving the the NHL and heading to the WHA. There are still people at the NHL who hold that against him, when in reality, Hull going to the Jets (who took the team name from him) would eventually lead to a better NHL as in 1980 the WHA would send four teams, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Quebec, and Hartford to the NHL. The WHA also made NHL teams have to up their game and the competition made was inevitably better for the players in general

This is how we got Gretzky.

As a player, Hull did play 15 years in the NHL with the Blackhawks...leading them to the Stanley Cup. He only played very briefly in W, but the NHL was terrified that a star would play in another league.

As a player, Hull was known for having the hardest shot EVER seen in hockey. He terrified goalies in the league, and he loved that he did. Legend had it, he would fire a snapshot early in the day put the fear of God into them

A personal memory of mine, and how I first heard of Bobby Hull, was my grandparents house. They had the rod hockey game, "Bobby Hull's Hockey." In the 70s, long before video games, that game was THE bomb.

Of course, Bobby is also the father of NHL Hall of Famer, Brett Hull.

Our thoughts go out to the Hull family and many friends...

I will be back after the podcast with rumors and more....
