Some breaking news this morning that is a MAJOR piece in the NHL Returning.
The United States Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, signed an order which exempts pro athletes from any proclamations barring their entry to the US.
Per CNN:
"Professional sporting events provide much needed economic benefits, but equally important, they provide community pride and national unity," Wolf said in a statement released by DHS. "In today's environment, Americans need their sports. It's time to reopen the economy and it’s time we get our professional athletes back to work."
The DHS will work with the leagues "to identify the specific athletes, essential staff, team and league leadership, spouses, and dependents covered by this exemption."
The NHL was one of the leagues mentioned....

I talked to a team source who said the players are working with local rinks which are closed right now so that they can get back on the ice and skating in the next 7-10 days.
"players are paying some rinks to open to them exclusively, which would give them certain hours to skate with each other, possibly starting off in groups of five at a time."
This would lead into training camps mid June and a July return. There is hope that Canada Day, July 1 could be the beginning of games, but I feel mid July is more likely.
