Last night the Wild returned to form in their 5-1 victory last night. They got balanced scoring once again and jumped all over the Coyotes from the start with three goals in the opening period. What also stayed true to form was the lack of production from the powerplay despite extended offensive zone time pressure from thw first unit.

Despite the fact that one of the Wild powerplays they had puck possession in the Coyotes zone for nearly the entire two minute advantage and somehow did not score. It still comes down to shooting thw puck and the Wild are not creating the lanes to take advantage of the outnumber situation on the ice.

They had the puck and to some it appeared as though it was just a matter of time before they cashed in. But if you really payed attention the Wild gave themselves very few looks at the net and the result was what we have come to see all season with the Wild PP.

It is going to come back to haunt them at some point and they really need to address closing the gaps and making quicker shorter passes that result in shot opportunities.

Tonight Cam Talbot gets the Wild net with a chance to get back on track. Expect a much better Coyote effort from the start so Cam will be tested early and often. Taking two in a row on the road against the same opponent is very difficult as we have seen.

For the Wild it is a simple plan keep attacking with all four lines roll the six D and figure out a way to grind out another two points in the desert.

It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
