It's Kunin and Rau, Not JEE Getting the Call

Both Nate Prosser and J.T. Brown went unclaimed through waivers and have been assigned to Iowa.

Interesting to see that it was Kyle Rau being recalled instead of Joel Eriksson Ek, a long with Luke Kunin.

Rau is a high energy player and certainly fills the fourth line role admirably. That is something I expected to see Brown play, but he only showed that on rare occasions.

Not sure what to make of JEE not getting the call and what does that say to the rest of the league as far as his value in any kind of potential trade.

It was very clear that the offers Fenton had received for his most traceable pieces were of the lowball variety, but I am not sure you help yourself out devaluing your own talent.

Eriksson Ek is an NHL player, maybe not much more than a third or fourth liner, but he has size speed and skill and the ability to play a shut down role. His shot is underrated, and of course underutilized as well.

Fenton is working, just wondering what is the next move and how many will occur over the next three weeks.

There are players all over the league that need a change of scenery to jumpstart their engines. The real shame is that the Wild had one of those guys in Nino Niederreiter, and his engine has revved up with five goals in six games since being dealt to Carolina.

I'm not saying that he will maintain that pace nor that the deal was bad for the Wild. I am saying that player movement must occur for the cycle of mediocrity to be broken in Minnesota.
