Bad Blood as Wild Host Flames

Last week the Wild lost 2-0 in Calgary, but the bigger story from that contest was the leg whip from Calgary captain Mark Giordano that has sidelined Mikko Koivu.

Then there was the hard hit that Matt Dumba threw on Mikael Backlund that triggered Flames coach Bill Peters, to send Ryan Lomberg out after Dumba.

The resulting 2 game suspension for Giordano and 1 game suspension for Lomberg and $10K fine for Peters.

So there will be some extra curricular shenanigans going on today at the Xcel, you can bank on that.

The Wild need to stay focused and continue their solid play at home and not fall into the Flames hands.

Calgary is a far better opponent than the Wild have beaten up on their last two games. They have skill up and down the lineup and the last thing the Wild need is to turn this one into a track meet or a battle of special teams.

The Wild will be without Jason Zucker who is out during to illness.
