Wrap: Flyers Battle Back, Withstand Blue Jackets, 3-2

Recovering from a pair of early one-goal deficits, the Philadelphia Flyers went on forge ahead and then withstand a third period push from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 3-2 win at Nationwide Arena on Wednesday night.

With the victory, the Flyers improved to 13-7-5 overall and 3-0-1 in their last four games.

Tyler Pitlick (2nd) and Scott Laughton (1st) answered to first period goals by Nick Foligno (2nd) and Seth Jones (3rd) as the Flyers erased early 1-0 and 2-1 deficits. The Flyers failed to convert on any of three first-period power play and then a fourth at the beginning of the third period but the fifth time was the charm as a left-circle shot by Claude Giroux found its way past Joonas Korpisalo (19 saves on 22 shots).

Flyers goalie Brian Elliott took it from there. The veteran netminder made 15 saves in the third period -- and stopped 28 of 30 overall -- to nail down the win.

The Flyers will practice in Voorhees on Thursday before hosting the Detroit Red Wings (7-16-3) in the annual Black Friday game at the Wells Fargo Center. On Saturday, the Flyers are back on the road for a Saturday afternoon match against the Montreal Canadiens (11-8-5).
