1) Three of the four Flyers-affiliated participants in the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship are coming home with medals after Saturday's gold medal and bronze medal games.

In Saturday's early game, Sweden defeated Czechia for the bronze by a 3-1 score. Junior Crowns team captain Emil Andrae, who was named to the media selected tournament all-star team, had three shots on goal in the gold medal game and skated 22:22 despite geting into penalty trouble with two minors in the third period.

Andrae finished the tournament with four goals, eight points and a plus-six rating in seven games. He finished 9th overall in the tournament and second among defensemen in scoring, trailing Canada's Owen Zellweger (11 points). Andrae did not record a point in the semifinal (a 1-0 loss to Finland) or the gold medal game.

In the gold medal game, Canada held a 2-0 lead in the third period only to see Finland come back to tie the score and sent the match to 3-on-3 sudden death overtime. In the overtime, the Finns came within a fraction of an inch of winning the gold on a puck that bounced on but not over the goal line. A few minutes later, Kent Johnson followed up his own rebound to send the Canadians to the gold in front of the Rogers Place crowd in Edmonton.

Flyers right wing prospect Tyson Foerster, skating on Canada's second line at 5-on-5 and seeing ice time during the 3-on-3 overtime, had four shots on goal and skated 18:02 of ice time in the gold medal game. He did not get on the scoresheet. Foerster finished the WJC with three goals, six points and a plus-six rating in seven games.

Flyers center/wing prospect Elliot Desnoyers, skating on Canada's fourth line, skated 11:30 of ice time in the gold medal game including PK duties. He was minus-one in the gold medal game. For the tourney as a whole, he averaged 10:13 of ice time and recorded one point (0g, 1a) after chipping in two assists in two games during the original tournament in Dec. 2021.

2) Day three of the 2022 Flyers Alumni Fantasy Camp will have four games played to complete the round-robin phase of the event. The championship and consolation games will be held on Monday. For a day-by-day journal of the on-ice and off-ice activities at the camp, click here.

On Saturday night, after the first two games at camp were played, all camp attendees went to the second game of the Phillies vs. Mets doubleheader. Phillies alumni Gary Matthews, Mickey Morandini and Dickie Noles stopped by the party suite to visit with their Flyers Alumni Association counterparts and the Fantasy Camp attendees. Flyers Alumni coaching at the camp include Bill Barber, Mark Howe, Mark Recchi, Danny Briere, Dave Poulin, Dave Brown, Joe Watson, Mike Knuble, Keith Jones, Brad Marsh and Bob "the Hound" Kelly.

Howe was not aware that yesterday was the 40th year anniversary of the day he was traded from the Hartford Whalers to the Flyers but he remembers very well where he was when the trade went down. He was on a fishing trip with his brother, Marty, and did not immediately find out that he'd been sent to the Flyers. Philadelphia was one of his top two choices along with the Boston Bruins and the Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman considers the happiest years of his NHL career to be his decade with the Flyers.

4) Today in Flyers History: On Aug 21, 1980, the decade-long Flyers career of Bob Kelly came to an end. He was traded to the Washington Capitals for a 1982 third-round pick (Bill Campbell). Kelly, who scored the Stanley Cup winning goal in the 1975 Final against the Buffalo Sabres, never played a single game of minor league hockey, going straight from junior hockey into the NHL.
