Quick Hits: October 31, 2020
1) QMJHL: Friday was not a good night for Elliot Desnoyers' Halifax Mooseheads, as the team was on the wrong end of a 7-1 blowout at the hands of the Charlottetown Islanders. Desnoyers did not record a point in this game. He went 13-for-24 on faceoffs, had two shots on goal, one credited hit and was minus-one on the night. Charlottetown over-ager right wing Cedric Desruisseaux continued his torrid start to the season by scoring his 10th goal of the young season; his career high in a full season is 24.
2) SHL: There are three games on the Swedish Hockey League docket for Saturday, including games featuring HV71 (Linus Sandin, Emil Andrae) on the road to play Växjö as well as Färjestad (Olle Lycksell, Adam Ginning) on the road in Malmö.
3) Czech Extraliga: The Covid-19 related pause to the Czech Extraliga will be extended until at least Nov. 20. Flyers/Phantoms winger David Kase is on loan to Karlovy Vary during the NHL offseason.
4) KHL: Maksim Sushko skated 11:33 and was credited with one hit in Dinamo Minsk's 6-3 loss on Friday to Torpedo Yaroslavl. On Sunday, German Rubtsov's Sochi team will host Vityaz. Goaltender Ivan Fedotov and Traktor Chelyabinsk are on the road to play Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
5) Happy Halloween! Coming up later today on the Flyers official website is an historic look at Halloween happenings surrounding the Flyers, including a tradition of high-scoring and/or bizarre games as well as memorable events such as goaltender Doug Favell debuting the NHL's first painted mask (orange, naturally) on Oct. 31, 1971, and Jeremy Roenick coming out for warmups on Oct. 31, 2001, decked out in a "Bobby Clarke wig", a No. 16 jersey and a makeshift pair of Cooperall-inspired pants.
