QUICK HITS: JULY 17, 2018

1) The new edition of FlyerBuzz on Flyers Radio 24/7 is the first installment of a summer series in which Flyers prospects talk about their 2017-18 seasons and goals for next season. Wade Allison updated his recovery progress after undergoing ACL surgery. Tanner Laczynski discusses the Frozen Four and his experience at Development Camp. Morgan Frost talks about his OHL MVP runner-up season and the highlights of the Soo Greyhounds' magical (until a heartbreaking loss in the OHL Finals) season. In the final segment, Brian Smith and I discuss Frost's playoff run and what he needs to demonstrate before the Flyers declare him NHL-ready.

2) There is not, as of this writing, official confirmation from the Flyers that Anthony Stolarz accepted the team's qualifying offer. However, it has been reported elsewhere that the restricted free agent (RFA) has been signed for the 2018-19 season, which would leave defenseman Robert Hägg as the Flyers final remaining RFA.

Per Capgeek.com, Stolarz's deal is a two-way contract that pays him $761,250 at the NHL level and $95,000 at the American Hockey League level. He would be an RFA again next summer.

Hägg's contract, likely a bridge deal, shouldn't be especially complicated to complete. Nevertheless, it is comparatively more involved than the other RFAs the Flyers had to negotiate with this summer. Thus, it is not a surprise that this is the final one remaining.

Other items on Ron Hextall's summer agenda likely include discussions with the agents for Ivan Provorov and Travis Konency --both a year away from completing their entry level deals and becoming first-time RFAs -- on multi-year extensions. There is also impending unrestricted free agent Wayne Simmonds, but it would not be a surprise if discussions with Simmonds' agent, Eustace King, are ongoing during the 2018-19 season with Simmonds coming off injuries and a down year by his standards.

3) The next edition of the "Real Deal Hockey with Bundy and Bill" podcast on the Flyers Alumni's Talkshoe channel will be recorded this week. Chris Therien and I are planning another surprise special guest for the show. In case you missed the last two editions, here is where you can download our discussions with James van Riemsdyk and Carter Hart.

Flyers-Related Fundraisers

1) Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere recently posted on Twitter to alert his fans to a fundraiser for a friend, Bobby DeFriest, who is battling brain cancer. The fundraising page on Facebook is here. Thus far, $20,255 have been raised toward a $100,000 goal.

2) Bernie Parent's In-Shore Fishing Challenge in Cape May on July 20. Proceeds benefit Snider Hockey. Additionally Bernie is providing dozens of Snider Hockey kids with their first opportunity to go boating/fishing; a way of sharing one of his own great passions with the kids. For more information, click here.

3) Although the 2018 Flyers Charity Classic's 5k and bicycling events have wrapped up, the fundraising donation period has been extended until the end of July. If you want to make a donation to one of the Flyers Alumni-related teams -- all of whom are raising funds for Snider Hockey -- below the direct links:
