QUICK HITS: JULY 14, 2018

1) Flyers goaltending prospect Carter Hart joined Chris Therien and me as the special guest on the newest edition of the "Real Deal Hockey with Bundy and Bill" podcast on the Flyers Alumni's Talkshoe channel. To download the 18-minute show, which was recorded on Friday afternoon, click here.

2) On Friday morning, Brian Smith and I recorded the new edition of the FlyerBuzz podcast on Flyers Radio 24/7. Topics discussed include the James van Riemsdyk and Christian Folin signings, possible open roster spots/ roles to be earned by opening night, the Flyers recent development camp, prospects potentially in the hunt for World Junior Championship roster spots as the summertime national team camps approach and more. The 30-minute program will air on Flyers Radio 24/7 beginning next week. When it is online, I will post a download link.

3) 2018 Toyota Flyers Charity Classic: Packet pickup for all events continues on Thursday at the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard (1001 Intrepid Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19112). Day-of-event walkup registration is available on Sunday. For Sunday's full schedule of starting times and events, visit FlyersCharityClassic.com. Proceeds benefit the organizations supported by Flyers Charities and the Flyers Alumni Association.

4) Saturday is the final day of Charity Classic fundraising. All money raised by the four teams captained by Flyers Alumni will go toward making good on pledge to the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation to help build a new rink in the Delaware Valley for the kids of Snider Hockey. Dating back to 2016, the Alumni have been working tirelessly toward this goal.

There are four Alumni-related teams at the Charity Classic. A donation to any of these teams is a donation to Snider Hockey. Additionally, a lifelong Flyers fan and season ticket holder named George Fill has pledged that his firm, David and Fill Financial, Inc., will make a dollar-for-dollar match of all funds raised by the Alumni up to a maximum $10,000.

If you want to make a donation -- any amount is greatly appreciated -- below the direct links:

Flyers Alumni Team: The team is led by 15 participating Flyers Alumni include Bob Clarke, Bernie Parent, Danny Briere, Paul Holmgren, Joe Watson, Bob Kelly, Dave Schultz, Kerry Huffman, Ian Laperriere, Riley Cote, Terry Carkner, Ryan Parent, Neil Little and more. Including friends, family members and dozens of Flyers fans who signed up so far to walk/run or ride along them, there are 59 team members.

Ides of Marsh: captained by Brad Marsh. Team members include three generations of the Marsh family (including former HockeyBuzz blogger, Erik Marsh), longtime pro cyclist Floyd Landis, my friends and hockey writing colleagues Anthony Mingioni and David Strehle, members of my family and myself. The largest participating team both last year and this year, the Ides team numbers 118 people pending walkup registration on Sunday.

Bundy's Chariot of Flyers: Captained by Chris Therien, the team was initially planned to be a segment within the Flyers Alumni Team managed by Chris but grew to become a team of its own. Team members include longtime local radio/TV sports personality Howard Eskin.

Team Guffaw: Captained by Brian Propp, the team includes many Flyers fans (including Justin Mirigliani, who is creating a documentary on the mid-1980s Flyers called "Keenan's Kids") as well as Propper's friends and work colleagues from Wolf Commercial Real Estate.

Entering the final day of fundraising, the Flyers Alumni-related teams have raised roughly $8,250. The objective is to hit at least the combined $10,000 mark by the end of Saturday.

5) Congratulations go out to the Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay, the power wheelchair hockey team sponsored by the Flyers. On Friday, the team won the U.S. national Powerhockey Cup championship with an 11-4 blowout win over the Michigan Mustangs.
