Game 21 Preview: Flyers vs. Penguins

John Tortorella's Philadelphia Flyers (7-8-5) will host Mike Sullivan's Pittsburgh Penguins (10-7-3) on Black Friday at the Wells Fargo Center. Game time is 5:30 p.m. ET.

Coming off a 3-2 overtime road loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, the Flyers are winless in their last eight games (0-5-3). On Wednesday, Morgan Frost (3rd goal of the season) and Patrick Brown (1st) scored in regulation. Felix Sandström stopped 29 of 32 shots in a losing cause for the Flyers.

The Penguins have won four games in a row and are 6-1-1 over the past eight games. They are coming off a 2-1 (3-2) shootout win against Calgary. Jan Rutta scored in the first period. Evgeni Malkin netted the winner in the shootout after Rickard Rakell and Sidney Crosby converted their shootout opportunities.

Preview: Phantoms vs. W-B/S Penguins

In addition to their parent clubs facing off on Black Friday, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (7-6-1) are in action as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (8-5-2) at the PPL Center in Allentown. Game time is 7:05 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on AHL TV (subscription required).

The Phantoms built a recent five-game winning streak before sustaining a 6-4 road loss last Sunday to the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Penalty killing has been a sore spot for the Phantoms most of the season to date, although there had been recent improvements prior to last Sunday. In Springfield, Lehigh Valley got torched for four power play goals by Springfield on six opportunities. For the season, the Phantoms' PK dropped to an atrocious 66.7 percent (ranked last among the AHL's 32 teams).

Samuel Ersson, who had started six straight games, was rested in Sunday's game. With Troy Grosenick unavailable due to injury, minor league veteran Pat Nagle got the start in Springfield. Bombarded with 46 shots, Nagle stopped 40 and was beaten on the other six.

The Phantoms have been dealing with numerous illnesses and injuries. The four-day break came at a good time. Tryout veteran Artem Anisimov, who was kept out of last Sunday's game by pre-planned decision because it was the team's third game in three nights, centered a line at practice this week with rookie Tyson Foerster and first-year player Olle Lycksell (returning from injury).
