The San Jose Sharks played two games against the Colorado Avalanche this week and also made a trade. Here’s the weekly recap.

SHARKS LOSE BOTH GAMES TO AVALANCHE

San Jose dropped both of their two games this week to the Colorado Avalanche. The Sharks lost 7-3 on Tuesday, before falling 3-0 on Thursday.

JAROS ACQUIRED FROM OTTAWA, CARRICK DEALT TO ANAHEIM

The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman Christian Jaros from the Ottawa Senators, in exchange for forward Jack Kopacka, who they acquired from Anaheim earlier in the day for defenseman Trevor Carrick. Jaros is 25 years old and has played 73 career NHL games.

SHARKS HAVE TWO GAMES POSTPONED

It was announced this week that the Sharks will have two upcoming games against the Vegas Golden Knights postponed, as a result of COVID concerns. The games were scheduled for Feb. 1 and Feb. 3.

As for our poll questions this week, here are some of the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Thoughts on Brent Burns’ performance so far this season?

(Votes: 38)

Meeting expectations: 87%
Surpassing expectations: 13%
Falling short of expectations: 0%

I think this is a fair assessment for Burns. He still has his defensive flaws but he’s off to a decent start so far for the Sharks.

QUESTION: Should the Sharks attempt to make a trade to improve their defense group?

(Votes: 38)

Yes: 71%
No: 29%

Well they did, but Christian Jaros isn’t really what I was going for here. The Sharks need to improve defensively but in order to bring in some help, it would come down to what the Sharks are willing to give up.
