The New York Islanders played four games this week and continued their hot streak. Here’s a recap of news and notes from the week.

ISLANDERS WIN ALL FOUR GAMES

The Islanders won all four of their games this week and have now gone eight straight games without a regulation loss (7-0-1). New York defeated New Jersey 2-1 on Tuesday, before beating the Buffalo Sabres three games in a row, strangely all by a score of 5-2. The Islanders have now won all six games against the Sabres so far this season.

NEARLY PERFECT AT HOME

With three home wins this week, the Islanders are still without a regulation loss at home so far this season. All other teams in the league have lost at least one game at home in regulation, while New York is currently 10-0-2 at home, picking up 22 of a possible 24 points.

ISLANDERS NOW LEAD EAST DIVISION

With the winning streak, the Islanders have taken the lead in the East Division. Not only do they have the most points, they also have the highest points percentage.

As for our poll question this week, here are the results, along with some thoughts:

QUESTION: Which 2018 first-rounder have you been more impressed by so far this season?

(Votes: 60)

Oliver Wahlstrom: 52%
Noah Dobson: 48%

This is a tough one and I think the answer here depends on whether or not we’re considering expectations. Noah Dobson has taken a step this year in an increased role and has 11 points in 25 games as a sophomore defenseman. I think he’s also been getting better defensively, though there’s still room for improvement. Wahlstrom, on the other hand, didn’t have great production in the AHL last season and we didn’t know how many games he’d even play with the Islanders this season. As a result, his performance as of late, with three goals and seven points in his last eight games, has come as a bit of a surprise. I think factoring in the season as a whole, I’d say Dobson but if we’re considering performance vs. expectations, I’d go with Wahlstrom.
