The New York Islanders played three games last week and had a defenseman return to the lineup.
Here's a recap of news and notes from the week.

ISLANDERS WIN TWO OF THREE GAMES

The Islanders dropped their first game of the week against the Pittsburgh Penguins last Monday, before defeating the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers later in the week.

DOBSON RETURNS TO LINEUP

Noah Dobson returned to the Islanders’ lineup against Washington last week, after missing time while on the league’s COVID Protocol list, followed by time spent working on conditioning. Dobson hadn’t played since March 13.

NO TRADES COMPLETED... YET

The Islanders have yet to make a deal for a forward ahead of the league's trade deadline. New York has been linked to Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri and others, as potential replacements for Anders Lee, who's out for the season.

As for our poll questions, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out:

QUESTION: Should the Islanders look to trade for Taylor Hall?

(Votes: 646)

Yes: 45%
Depends on the price: 28%
No: 26%

Hall is the top forward on the market and despite his down year, he’s still a key player. That said, it remains to be seen as to how much Buffalo’s asking price drops before a deal is made.

QUESTION: Should the Islanders look to trade for Kyle Palmieri?

(Votes: 261)

Yes: 50%
Depends on the price: 32%
No: 18%

Palmieri is another option who would fit well with the Islanders and is an alternative to Hall. His price tag should be lower, however, his offensive upside likely will be as well.

QUESTION: Should the Islanders have claimed Nikita Gusev off waivers?

(Votes: 307)

No: 67%
Yes: 33%

I don’t know that the Islanders should have gambled with their cap space and claimed Gusev. That said, I think it was an interesting option, rather than giving up future assets for a different rental.
