New York Islanders prospect Simon Holmstrom has been named to Sweden’s preliminary roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship.

Holmstrom was selected 23rd overall by the Islanders in the 2019 NHL Draft. He scored a goal and two points through 11 games in the Allsvenskan, Sweden's second-highest professional league, this season and had eight goals and 15 points in 46 AHL games with Bridgeport last season.

The forward has yet to represent Sweden in the tournament and this will be his final year of eligibility to participate. Sweden will have to cut nine players ahead of the tournament.
