The San Jose Sharks traded the 11th overall pick in this year's NHL Draft to the Arizona Coyotes today, in exchange for the 27th overall pick, the 34th overall pick and the 45th overall pick.

With the 27th overall pick, the Sharks selected Filip Bystedt. The forward scored 49 points in 40 games while playing junior hockey in Sweden and also suited up for 15 games in Sweden’s top professional league.

Before the draft started, there was also a moment of silence for Bryan Marchment, who passed away unexpectedly yesterday.

As for the decision to move the 11th pick for three later selections, I don’t mind the move. They’re all quite a ways back which is concerning given the organization’s lack of star prospects, but it’s a less clear-cut draft this year and managing three picks in the top-45 will help to grow the prospect pool.
