The Anaheim Ducks locked up yet another one of their restricted free agents yesterday, signing defenseman Jacob Larsson to a two-year deal worth $1.2 million per year.

It wasn’t a great year for Larsson and he didn’t take the steps some were hoping he’d be able to. Larsson played 60 games with the Ducks this year, scoring two goals and 11 points to go along with a minus-nine rating.

Next season, Larsson is expected to have to battle with several other defenders for ice time on the bottom pairing. The deal doesn’t carry much risk but the concern remains whether or not Larsson will be able to round out his game in the NHL.

A full analysis of the contract will be out soon.
