Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Were you surprised Chris Wideman didn’t play any games with the Ducks this season?

(Votes: 54)

No: 54%
Yes: 46%

Against the majority, I’m a bit surprised Wideman didn’t play any games in the NHL this season, prior to the 2018-19 season, Wideman had established himself as a regular defenseman in the league and considering Anaheim’s lack of depth on the right side of their defense group, I would’ve expected Wideman to at least get a chance.

QUESTION: Do you wish Anaheim had signed Joel Persson for next season?

(Votes: 69)

No: 46%
Yes: 30%
Don’t feel strongly either way: 23%

Considering he was just acquired at the deadline, I would’ve thought the Ducks would give him more of an opportunity and bring him back next year, rather than letting him leave after seven games with San Diego. I don’t think the Ducks will regret it though and considering how many defense prospects they have, Persson probably wasn’t going to get a shot in the NHL anyways.

QUESTION: Do you think the Ducks should be active in free agency this year?

(Votes: 73)

No: 78%
Yes: 22%

Based on the title of my article that this poll was included in, it’s obvious that I feel Anaheim should steer clear of free agency this year and give their prospects an opportunity to develop. Of course, if there’s a player they could add on a great contract that makes sense to add to the lineup then like anyone else they should go for it, but they shouldn’t be going out of their way to chase after free agents.

QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Troy Terry next season?

(Votes: 105)

Less than 30 points: 38%
30-40 points: 33%
More than 50 points: 16%
40-50 points: 12%

I was surprised to see that so many people believe Terry won’t reach even 30 points next season. To me, I’m with the 28 per cent that believes he could hit at least 40 points and if he’s given a bit of an increased role next year and I think he’s going to have a much more productive season.
