With the Los Angeles Kings’ season over, I’ll be taking a look at each player on the team and how they performed this season. The first player I’ll be focusing on is Mike Amadio.

Amadio finally earned a permanent spot with the Kings this year and had a fairly strong first full NHL season. He upped his shots per game by quite a margin, at 1.46 this season, compared to 0.81 shots per game in the 80 games he played with Los Angeles between the two previous seasons. He also had a very strong corsi for percentage of 54.6 per cent this season, despite having a lower offensive zone start percentage than the majority of Kings’ forwards.

He did have just six goals and 16 points in 68 games this year but part of that can be attributed to his shooting percentage, which was just 6.1 per cent. If you apply his career shooting percentage of 9.8 per cent (which was even negatively affected by his shooting percentage this year) to his shot totals this season, he would’ve been on pace for 12 goals and 24 points per 82 games this season, which is perhaps a better indication of the production to expect from Amadio going forward.

Based on the sheer number of talented forward prospects the Kings have in the pipeline, it’s probably unlikely that Amadio makes his way into the top-six. That said, he’s still able to create chances and as a very defensively reliable forward, he’s an excellent fit in the bottom-six. It'll be a bonus if he’s able to boost his production but so far, he’s already succeeding in a depth role and based on his age, he could be with the Kings for years to come.
