Forward Austin Czarnik was claimed by the Seattle Kraken today, after being placed on waivers by the New York Islanders yesterday.

Czarnik is 29 years old and has split the season between NHL and AHL, scoring two goals and five points in 11 NHL games, as well as six goals and 15 points in 20 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Islanders. The forward has played a total of 136 career NHL games and is set to become a free agent in the offseason.

It’s somewhat disappointing to see Czarnik get claimed. While he wasn’t a regular in the lineup he was a really solid depth piece who consistently played with intensity and was able to produce despite an often small role.
