While the Carolina Hurricanes made some significant trades over the last few days, they also announced a few smaller signings.

The team announced yesterday that they’ve signed forward Mackenzie MacEachern to a one-year contract, which carries a $750,000 contract.

The forward is 28 years old and has played 115 career NHL games, all with the St. Louis Blues. This past season, he spent the majority of the season with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds.

The team also announced a one-year deal for goaltender Zach Sawchenko on Thursday. Sawchenko is 24 years old and has spent the majority of the last three seasons with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. He also suited up for seven games with the San Jose Sharks this season, posting a .901 save percentage. The deal carries a $750,000 cap hit.

Carolina has signed forward Malte Stromwall to a one-year contract at a $750,000 cap hit as well. Stromwall is 27 years old and has spent the majority of his professional career in Europe. This past season, he scored 19 goals and 32 points in 38 KHL games.
