The Carolina Hurricanes announced yesterday that they’ve re-signed defenseman Max Lajoie to a one-year contract, which carries a $750,000 cap hit.

Lajoie is 24 years old and spent the majority of this past season with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, scoring four goals and 33 points in 60 games. He also played five games with the Hurricanes and has played a total of 67 regular season NHL games overall.

The defenseman isn’t likely to earn a spot with the Hurricanes this season, but he’ll continue to provide organizational depth and could be brought up in the case of injuries.
