The Carolina Hurricanes announced today that they’ve named Tim Gleason as an assistant coach.

Gleason played a total of 727 NHL games and spent time with the Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals. The defender spent parts of nine seasons with the Hurricanes and was an assistant captain with the team for multiple years near the end of his career, before retiring in 2015.

Gleason has spent the last three years as a development coach with the organization, working with defensemen.
