The Anaheim Ducks have selected Jamie Drysdale with the sixth-overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Drysdale, a right-handed defenseman, had 47 points in 49 games with the OHL’s Erie Otters. The Ducks have a huge need for defensemen who can play on the right side and Drysdale projects as a potential top-pairing NHL defenseman.

They had the option of either Jamie Drysdale or Marco Rossi, which was certainly unexpected, and Drysdale certainly fills a position of need.

Later in the draft, the Ducks also selected winger Jacob Perreault with the 27th overall pick.

Perreault had 39 goals and 70 points in 57 games with the OHL's Sarnia Sting this past season. He wasn't even included in the list of 11 players who I noted as possibilities to be taken at 27th overall, as I figured he'd be gone by the time the Ducks were picking again. Perreault is a really strong pick for the Ducks and he could certainly end up developing into a top-six winger.
