New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz has been named as an assistant coach for Canada's men's hockey team at the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

Trotz has 22 years of experience as an NHL head coach, spending 15 years with the Nashville Predators and four years with the Washington Capitals, before taking over as head coach of the New York Islanders in 2018. His most recent international coaching experience came as an assistant coach for Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

With Canada, Trotz will be part of a coaching staff led by Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper, which also includes Bruce Cassidy of the Boston Bruins and Peter DeBoer of the Vegas Golden Knights.
