According to multiple reports, the Bruins will soon announce the hiring of Jim Montgomery as the organization's next head coach.

Barstool Sports' Matt Murley was the first to report the hire.

Montgomery has found success at both the collegiate and professional levels as a coach. The 53-year old (as of today) spent five years as head coach at the University of Denver, leading the Pioneers to a national championship in 2017.

Before Denver, Montgomery spent three seasons in the USHL as head coach of the Dubuque Fighting Saints, leading the Fighting Saints to two championships in three seasons.

Between his time at the USHL and NCAA levels, Montgomery has helped young players such as Johnny Gaudreau, Zemgus Girgensons, Troy Terry and Will Butcher find success.

After leaving Denver, Montgomery was hired as head coach of the Dallas Stars prior to the 2018-19 season, taking the Stars to the Stanley Cup Playoffs where they lost in the second round. The following season Montgomery was fired after 31 games due to "unprofessional conduct."

Shortly after his firing, Montgomery checked himself into a rehab facility to help with some alcohol issues he was dealing with.

Montgomery has spent the previous two seasons as an assistant to Craig Berube in St. Louis where his primary focus was the Blues' special teams units.

Along with Montgomery, former Rangers' head coach David Quinn and Seattle Kraken assistant Jay Leach were finalists for the position.

While what's ahead for the Bruins and their potential organizational shift remains to be seen, Montgomery's resume should provide the Bruins with an exciting outlook from behind the bench.

The soon-to-be new head coach has won at multiple levels and has shown the ability to get the most out of young talent.

General manager Don Sweeney felt the Bruins locker room needed a new voice, one they'll get in Montgomery. If his past has shown us anything, it's a voice players will listen to.

The Bruins made it official Friday, hiring Montgomery as the 29th head coach of the Boston Bruins.

"The Boston Bruins are pleased to introduce Jim Montgomery as the next head coach of the Boston Bruins and welcome Jim, his wife, Emily, and his children, JP, Colin, Ava and Olivia, to the city of Boston," said Sweeney in a released statement.

"Jim has a winning history, and throughout the interview process he conveyed his ability to connect with all types of players while also demanding that his teams play with structure. We are excited for Jim to begin to make his imprint on our team."

The Bruins will officially introduce Montgomery in a press conference during the week of July 11th.
