From one milestone to another |

Sunday turned out to be a pretty good sports day in the city of Boston. That all started in the early afternoon with Tuukka Rask.
In what was a well-earned shutout of the Washington Capitals, Rask became the winningest goalie in Bruins history. Rask’s 253rd victory pushed him past Tiny Thompson on the list.
The win was a big one for Rask in more ways than one. Not only did it propel Rask into the top spot on the Bruins all-time win list, but it helped the Bruins snap a 14-game losing streak against the Capitals.
As much of an honor being the winningest goalie in Bruins history is, Rask was more excited about picking up a much needed win, and snapping the Bruins three-game losing streak.
"I enjoy it obviously, it doesn't change anything in my mind during the season or even after the season, said Rask who made 24 saves in the win. “Your name is in the history books, that's about it. Someday somebody else is going to come and break it. Hopefully I can put up a couple more, get some cushion."
Rask is now 7-0-2 in his last 10 games.
After several sloppy performances, and a public callout from head coach Bruce Cassidy, the Bruins defense put forth one of their best defensive efforts of the season, paving the way for Rask’s second shutout of the season.
When the New York Islanders visit TD Garden Tuesday night, another milestone will be checked off the list.
Patrice Bergeron will play in his 1000th career National Hockey League game on Tuesday. Bergeron joins Wayne Cashman, Ray Bourque, Don Sweeney and Johnny Bucyk as the only Bruins to skate in 1000 games with the franchise.
Bergeron, who came into the league at just 18-years old, has spent all 15 of his professional seasons with the Bruins, growing into one of the top players in franchise history.
In the 2007-08 season, Bergeron’s season ended after just 10 games when he was drilled into the boards by Flyers defenseman Randy Jones. Knocked cold, Bergeron suffered from a concussion. It was a scary time for Bergeron, not knowing what was next in his hockey future.
Bergeron battled through the concussion, and since, has cemented himself into hockey history books, winning a Stanley Cup and gold medals in the Olympics and World Junior Championship, among many other international tournaments. Bergeron also has four Selke Trophies under his belt, tying him with Bob Gainey for most all-time.
At 33-years old, and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, Bergeron has much more to accomplish in his hockey career.
