Start here today...
First off, thanks for coming to the site in record numbers once again! Honestly every year we get blown away and I take your trust and your "webtime" very seriously... We will not let you down over the next several weeks as all these players find homes.
So here we go...
Per Bob McKenzie, God of all rumors and more....
"All signs are pointing to Erik Karlsson returning to SJ and re-signing with the Sharks, which would take the most prominent name off the 2019 UFA board."
Thought 1. Bob is never wrong. He will be the first to say that things can change and until it is official it is just talk...but when he puts out something like this, it is usually way closer to "officially done" than he would let on. TRUST IN BOB.
So, here are my thoughts assuming this is going to happen...

Considering the rumored numbers on this deal are 90M over 8 years I am frankly shocked.
I feel I know Doug Wilson (and his tendencies) fairly well, however, I will admit in this case I have no special knowledge of the ongoing negotiations with Erik and the Sharks. This is NOT Wilson's M.O. The Sharks are where they are because Wilson is conservative, even with his star players...Karlsson is one of the best of all time, but his injuries have made him less of a sure thing...
Granted, any time a player of this level is signed the owner has to be involved, but in this case, I have to think the owner is directing the ship. This feels like the owner has told Wilson to get this deal done, and we all must remember that GMs work for their owners...
Is that a good thing? Time will tell, but as I write this it looks more and more like Karlsson will be on the Sharks for a LONG time.
