While the KHL and its executives were still deciding on the future of leagues one and only Slovak team - ''Slovan'' Bratislava the team made a decision of their own on Monday.

The Slovak team wasn't able to find a sponsor for the upcoming season and decided against continuing their road as a part of the KHL.

The following is the statement from the team:

Slovan regrets to confirm they will not participate in 2019-20 KHL season. Despite every possible effort taken to ensure necessary financial guarantees, as well as a sustainable operating budget, Slovan is currently not able to meet conditions for participation in the league. Apart from recent economic problems, we are nothing but grateful for the beautiful 7 years during which excellent hockey was brought in to Bratislava and Slovakia through a number of talented players in each and every KHL team. Slovan firmly believes that for most of their time spent in KHL they have proved to be a good ambassador and promoter of KHL in the region of Central Europe and would like to wish fellow participating clubs many successful matches as well as satisfied fans in the future.

There already had been rumors in regards to teams future, even more so a week ago KHL released a statement of their own.

The Slovak team is now expected to be a part of the Slovakian league if they're accepted back into it.

The 8th time Slovakian champions played in the KHL since 2012/2013 season and was a major part of KHL's European expansion plan.
