Mark Giordano, Victor Hedman, and Brent Burns were recently announced as the finalists for the Norris Trophy. In this edition of the hotstove, we share our picks for the award.

Mark Giordano and I don't think it should be close.
The 35-year-old put up 74 points in 78 games while driving possession at an elite rate. This despite playing the majority of his minutes against top, top, competition, which can't be said about Victor Hedman or Brent Burns –
both of whom still posted lesser results at 5v5 across the board.
Among defenseman, Giordano was also a top-10 point producer on the power play and he led the way with four shorthanded goals so it's not as if he didn't provide value in other gamestates. He was excellent across the board.

I like Mark Giordano. Burns is a great player but the defensive side of his game is not his best side and Hedman, while great too did not play a full season. If you look at raw numbers Giordano takes the prize but he's also surrounded by the best d corps with Hanafin, Brodie, and Hamonic. In that crew, Giordano stands above all while Hedman is not the clear cut leader in number on TB.
The other thing with Giordano is, really it's about time this guy got his due as he been long overlooked and how much more can he do year after year?
