All But Done

The critical five game home stand is off to an 0 and 2 start and the Minnesota Wild six year playoff run appears all but over. With 11 games to play nothing short of a miracle would get the boys into the dance.

The energy the Wild had infused into the lineup following the trade deadline has dried up along with the offense. That does not mean that the moves were wrong or bad, it just means that the sudden burst of energy is not enough to carry this team to a playoff berth.

In the end missing the playoffs is not a bad thing for the future of the Wild.

Paul Fenton has made his mark on the roster and he will continue to do that moving forward in the offseason.

As far as Bruce Boudreau is concerned that is totally a personal decision of Fenton. Does he want his own guy? If so he relieves Boudreau, and if he does it is not Bruce's fault. Boudreau has worked wonders with what he has had to work with since he arrived in the State of Hockey.

The Wild will not roll over until they are officially eliminated from playoff competition. So expect a better effort this weekend as they host the Rangers and Islanders on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
