The New York Rangers appear to be on the verge of getting one of their top prospects signed to an entry-level contract.
Vitali Kravstov, who was selected ninth overall by the Rangers in the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas, finished his third KHL season after Chelyabinsk Traktor was eliminated by Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist in the Gargarin Cup quarterfinals on Monday.
The 19-year-old winger was third in scoring for Traktor this season with 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) and added two assists in four playoff games.
Kravstov could sign an NHL deal within the next few days, but it is unknown whether he will come to play in North America right away, with four weeks remaining in the NHL and AHL season.
