With Matt Duchene being traded the Winnipeg Jets now have a chance to capitalize on what's left from Ottawa with either Stone or option B- Dzingel.

The good news is that Duchene has been traded away from the Central division and Jets rivals as well as the Western Conference but will his return set the price for Stone?

The prospects that Ottawa received are generally regarded as 'B' level and the draft picks a 1st round pick and 2020 conditional first round pick have to be seen as advantageous for Ottawa. However would that be what they are looking for from Winnipeg?

Stone is the superior player of the three from Ottawa so the return will be higher but the key to seeing this deal for the Jets is the conditional first round pick if Duchene signs with Columbus- will that be the same for Stone?

The belief is that the Jets will want to sign Stone so at some point they have a contract issue to deal with in terms of salary and will have to move some one out. So is it better to do it now or later?

Then what about picks and prospects. Nic Petan could be seen as valuable in this situation or not as he has barely played so who might the Sens want in terms of prospects? Appleton, Spacek, Stanley, Suess, Dano, or perhaps Harkins or Schilling? Would the Jets want to surrender two consecutive picks after trading last year's first round pick?

It would appear, due to the relentless Ottawa scouting of the Moose, that the Jets want to give up assets they have so as to keep a draft pick(s). They could create value for Ottawa by providing more quantity and depth for them while maintaining the integrity of their roster. This will be fascinating to see how this plays out, if it does.

Finally it was told today from Vegas that Nik Ehlers makes his long awaited return to the line up. This is good news for the Jets and as of now Paul Maurice had not released his lines yet. Let's take a guess.

Ehlers Scheifele Wheeler
Perreault, Little Laine
Lowry Copp Tanev
Connor, Roslovic Lemieux

But again who knows.

Now here from some one outside of the Jets community on Paul Maurice.

There's been a ton of criticism of Paul Maurice lately and after the 7-1 loss it's only been amped to 11. I reached out to Doug Abrams who has seen two tours of duty with Paul Maurice as head coach of the Hurricanes. Doug is a smart guy and I always enjoy his takes and I think he has some interesting insight in what Jets fans are seeing now.

Have a listen.
