Quick turnaround

After that loss the CBJ faithful are happy for a quick turnaround. Personally, I’m glad I don’t have to think about that loss too long.

There were things that can be gleaned from that game that are positive and negative.

The Positive:

Young kids didn’t look young, they looked fast and hungry. Shrewood and Robinson were both noticeable out there last night. Not as noticeable as Kucherov, but who is? They got 11 minutes and 14 minutes respectively with some of that time coming on the PP.

CBJ energy and ‘jump’ in the first period was awesome. Columbus looked amped up for this game. They were hitting, skating and getting shots on net. Vasilevskiy was up to the task however, and the scoreboard was Kucherov 2, Columbus 0 after that period.

The Negative:

Korpi and the defense were exposed. Take that with a grain of salt. This is the highest scoring team in the league. TBL jumped on two early turnovers and found the back of the net after a lackluster start. I’m still not sure how the D let 86 ‘sneak’ behind them. TBL is a playoff team and if that is how the CBJ fair against playoff teams this season, even if they get in we (the fans) are going to end up disappointed again.

Murray got hurt again. Given the move of calling up a defenseman I am guessing we are not going to see him tonight in MON. Hopefully it isn’t serious and won’t keep him out long.

Onward:

Sixty-nine points if 58 games is good enough to be 3rd in the Metro. A win tonight keeps the Jackets in just that spot and puts the Canadians 2 points back. Don’t look now but CAR is climbing the standings and looking to gain a playoff spot with a win v. NYR. PIT is also in action against NJD. Things could look very different when we wake up tomorrow morning or they could look exactly the same. Should be a fun night of hockey and scoreboard watching. Not nearly as fun as that CHI/OTT scoring fest though. If you are not paying attention to the West, Patrick Kane is single handedly willing the Blackhawks into the playoffs…they are fun to watch right now.
